Prosper, Texas was originally two separate settlements – Rock Hill and Richland. They existed between 1850 and 1902, until the St. Louis & San Francisco Railroad was built. People wanted to keep the name “Richland,” but were informed that the name was already taken! So, they named the nascent town “Prosper” in honor of the bountiful crops that year.
Prosper strives to make its name a reality for all of its residents and anyone who visits, calling itself a “place where everyone matters.” The town pays homage to its name with impressive growth in the last 10 years and quality of life that goes along with it.
